A manual drive system 4 comprises a manual link 47 rotated by manual rotation means 41. The manual link 47 has a second arm portion 473 having a rotation support 470 and a second linkage portion 474. Linkage means 27 are provided for a dead bolt 2 and this is linked to a linkage portions 374, 474 of the motor link 37 and the manual link 47. The motor gear 36 is a sector gear having a toothed portion 361 having a number of teeth required for rotating the motor link 37 by an advance and retreat distance of the dead bolt 2 and a non-toothed portion 362 with no teeth.
