A cylindrical permanent magnet is used as a rotor 1, and the rotor 1 rotates about a rotation axis 4. A stator 2 is provided around the rotor 1, and the stator 2 is composed of a molding body in which a magnetic material powder is mixed with a resin and molded. In order to apply a magnetic field to the rotor 1, field winding parts 2a, 2b are provided in the stator 2, and field windings 3a, 3b are wound in the field winding parts 2a, 2b. One-side ends of the field windings 3a, 3b are connected to each other, and the other ends are connected to an AC power source 6. Accordingly, a magnetic field is generated in the field windings 3a, 3b by a current supplied from the AC power source 6, and the magnetic field is applied to the rotor 1. Since a molding body in which a magnetic material powder is mixed with a resin is used as the stator 2, the lighter weight of a stator than that of the conventional one can be achieved.
