To detect, in a motor control method for controlling a motor without using a sensor to detect the rotating state of the rotor, the rotating state of the rotor with high accuracy and also restrict occurrence of noise while keeping the motor operational even when it is operated with high torque.
In an electric power conversion apparatus 50a, voltage output means 3 superposes a high frequency alternating voltage on basic voltage command values Vdc* and Vqc* from a vector calculation means 4 and outputs three-phase AC voltage command values Vu*, Vv* and Vw* to electric power conversion means 11. Current component separation means 5 extracts a high frequency current component corresponding to the alternating voltage from three-phase current signals Iuc, Ivc and Iwc and calculates a high frequency current norm Ih expressing the magnitude of the extracted high frequency current component. Superposed voltage amplitude adjustment means 9 outputs a superposed voltage amplitude command value Vh* for adjusting the amplitude of the alternating voltage to the voltage output means 3 on the basis of the high frequency current norm Ih from the current component separation means 5.
