To reduce tooth striking sound of an electric power steering device while ensuring smooth torque transmitting and good steering feeling.
The electric power steering device is provided with an assist torque input means 40 assisting steering torque on a torque transmitting path for transmitting the steering torque inputted into a steering wheel to a wheel through a pinion shaft 17, a pinion 28, a rack 30, and a rack bar 29. The assist torque input means 40 drives a worm wheel 38 provided on the pinion shaft 17 by a worm 37 rotated by a motor M. Either one of the pinion 28 or the rack 30, and either one of the worm 37 or the worm wheel 38 are magnetized, thereby adsorbing an engaging portion. While ensuring smooth torque transmitting and good steering feeling, noise can be decreased by reducing tooth striking sound when especially minute torque is transmitted.
