Abstract:

To provide an electric power steering device diagnosing failure of a temperature detection device and certainly preventing thermal destroying of a motor and a motor drive circuit by suppressing driving of the motor when it is diagnosed as failure.

The electric power steering device is provided with failure diagnosis means 68, 80 for diagnosing failure of a base plate temperature detection device 50 based on an armature current Im detected by a motor current detection means 18 and a substrate temperature Tb of the control base plate detected by the base plate temperature detection device 50; and target current suppression means 81, 69, 70 for suppressing a target current Iq when it is diagnosed by failure diagnosis means 68, 80 that the base plate temperature detection device 50 is failed.
