PURPOSE: To obtain a rice cooker in which the irregular temperature distribution in ingredient is diminished during cooking and uneven cooking is avoided, by a method wherein a cast-in heater has two sheathed heaters around the circumference and in the middle, and the sheathed heaters are independently energized.
CONSTITUTION: When ingredient 17 reaches a specified temperature, a temperature detector attached on the bottom of an inner pot 15 detects the temperature and sends the detected signal to a controller 18. As a result, the controller 18 begins to alternately supply power to an outer sheathed heater 13a and an inner sheathed heater 13b. When the outer sheathed heater 13a is energized, the vicinity of the circumference of the inner pot 15 is mainly heated, and when the inner heater 13b is energized, the central part of the pot is mainly heated, so that convection currents shown by arrows (a) and (b) are developed repeatedly. Therefore, a foaming current, which continuously pushes up the rice in the pot 15 locally, is not developed, so that the surface of the boiled rice is not made uneven after cooking is finished, and boiled rice without irregular cooking can be obtained.
