Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause no characteristic fluctuation even when mounting a toothbrush of different weight.
SOLUTION: This electric toothbrush is provided with an actuator A comprising a linear oscillator for driving a drive shaft 2 free to reciprocate in an axial direction, by an electromagnetic circuit to which an alternating current is applied, and the toothbrush 1 is detachably mounted to the drive shaft 2. The electric toothbrush is further provided with a detecting means for detecting at least one of the displacement of the drive shaft 2, the speed of the drive shaft 2 and a current flowing in the electromagnetic circuit, and a control means C performing closed circuit control of a current supplied to the electromagnetic circuit according to the detection output of the detecting means, to keep the amplitude of the drive shaft constant and to drive it at the frequency of the resonance point of the current. Driving at the constant amplitude and constant current consumption can be performed even when mounting a toothbrush of different weight.
