PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric torque converter applicable for a vehicle as it is without being different in the axial size of a fluid type torque converted from that of a conventional type.
SOLUTION: The electric type torque converter comprises an engine; a motor generator; and a composite distribution mechanism situated between the engine and transmission and mechanically synthesizing the forces of the engine and the motor generator or distributing the force of the engine. This converter comprises a first case member to partition a transmission and the electric torque converter from each other; a second case member to partition an external part and an electric type torque converter from each other; and a third case member provided with a large diameter part coupled to the first case member, a middle diameter part having the inside diameter side on which the composite distribution mechanism is situated and the outside diameter side on which the motor generator rotor is situated in a state to be at least partially radially overlapped, and a small diameter part having an inner periphery to support a rotary shaft situated on the same shaft as the input shaft of the transmission, and partitioning the motor generator side and the composite distribution mechanism from each other.
