Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing the time required for precharge of a smoothing capacitor.SOLUTION: An electric vehicle 2 includes: a primary battery 4; a primary power-source line 10 connected to the primary battery; a power control unit (PCU) 12 including a smoothing capacitor 14 for smoothing the voltage of the primary power-source line; switches 20a and 20b of a system main relay 20 for switching between conduction and nonconduction of the primary power-source line; a secondary battery 22 at low voltage; a secondary power-source line 24 connected to the secondary battery; a first DC-DC converter 28 capable of performing voltage step-up operation from the secondary power-source line to the primary power-source line; and a second DC-DC converter 30 capable of performing voltage step-down operation from the primary power-source line to the secondary power-source line at a portion that is more adjacent to the primary battery than the switches and between the primary power-source line and the secondary power-source line. The allowable input current of the first DC-DC converter is larger than the sum of the maximum output current of the second DC-DC converter and the maximum output current of the secondary battery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
