An air take-in window 910 to be opened/closed is positioned at the substantially center part of an outer lid 9 for opening/closing a laundry throw-in port. An outer tub cover 303 arranged at the upper end of an outer tub 3 has a ventilation window 303a for introducing air, which is sent into an outer tub, to the inner part of an outer frame by the rotation of a washing and spin-drying tub 6 and an agitating blade 8. A controller controls a driving device so as to repeat a ventilating operation for integrally rotating the washing and spin-drying tub and the agitating blade at high speed, and a laundry arranging operation for rotating the agitating blade while the rotation of the washing and spin-drying tub is stopped.
