Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire protection device and an electric wire protection method that reliably protect electric wire from overheating due to the conduction of current even after a processor is reset for electric wire protection.SOLUTION: An electric wire protection device comprises a control unit 11 that performs current conduction control to turn off a switch if an electric wire temperature calculated based on current values repeatedly detected by turning on or off a switch (FET 131) placed in an electric wire exceeds a predetermined value, stops the current conduction control after storing restoration information in a storage unit 15 if the switch has not been turned on for a predetermined period, and temporarily stops the current conduction control by temporarily turning off the switch and does not store information in the storage unit if reset was performed. The electric wire protection device comprises means (control unit 11) for determining whether information is stored in the storage unit 15 or not before the control unit 11 starts current conduction control and turns on the switch. If it was determined to be no, the control unit 11 keeps the switch off for a predetermined time.
