To provide an electrical connector assembly capable of minimizing mutual fitting between connector housings in engaging a pair of connectors.

A pair of male and female connectors 10 are provided engaged substantially in parallel to an engaging surface 14. Each of the connectors is provided with an elongated housing 12 having an engaging flange 18 at one end thereof and a locking hook 16 at the other end thereof. The locking hook 16 surrounds an engaging flange of the counterpart connector, so that both of the connectors can be locked in a direction substantially perpendicular to the engaging surface. The engaging flanges 18 and locking hooks 16 of the pair of connectors 10 respectively have abutting surfaces 32, 34, 40, 46, which extend opposite to each other in an engagement direction M of the connectors. At least one of the abutting surfaces includes central abutting portions 36, 42 which are substantially parallel to the engagement direction and inclined portions 38, 44 located at both ends of the central abutting portions 36, 42. With this configuration of the abutting surfaces, mutual fixture between the housings can be minimized, when both of the connectors are to be engaged with each other in a skewed direction.
