PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, containing a specific soluble aniline-based electrically conductive polymer, capable of using an aqueous solution of covering all the pH as a solvent without any humidity dependence, capable of manifesting high electric conductivity and excellent in film-forming properties, moldability, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) soluble aniline-based electrically conductive polymers which are in the form of a solid at normal temperatures, containing an acid group-substituted aniline, its alkali metallic salt, ammonium salt and/or substituted ammonium salt as recurring units and having 10000-3240000 weight-average molecular weight and (B) a solvent (preferably water). A polymer, prepared by polymerizing a compound selected from the acid group-substituted aniline of formula I (R1 to R5 are each H, an acidic group or a 1-4C straight-chain or branched alkyl, etc., with the proviso that at least one thereof is the acidic group), its alkali metallic salt and a (substituted) ammonium salt with an oxidizing agent in a solution containing a basic compound and having a unit of formula II [A is sulfone, carboxyl, etc.; B is H, an alkyl, etc.; (x) is 0-1; (n) is 10-5000], is preferred as the component (A).
