To prevent crack formation in the surface of the middle part of an insulating support material having installation metal fittings in both ends and at the same time to make the support material light weight and to increase the tensile strength of both end parts in the circumferential direction.
This support material is produced by joining installation metal tools in both end parts of a pipe 2 made of a fiber-reinforced composite material formed by a filament winding method. In this case, the fiber arrangement of the pipe 2 is constituted of a 0 degree layer of warps extended in the axial line direction of the pipe 2 and a helical layer of filaments extended slantingly to the direction of the 0 degree layer and to the fiber arrangement of the 0 degree layer and the helical layer in both end parts to which the installation metal fittings are to be joined, a 90 degree layer extended in the circumferential direction of the pipe 2 is added while the thickness of both end parts being thicker than that of the middle part.
