Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of an electrification unevenness caused by permanent set in fatigue and thereby to eliminate image defect in a contact electrifying member.
CONSTITUTION: An electrifying roller 2 is constituted by enclosing a core bar 2a with an elastic body 2B in which a foaming member 2b, tubes 2c, a conductive layer 2d, a medium resistance layer 2e and a protective layer 2f are laminated successively from the inside. Both edge parts of the core bar 2a are pressed by pressure springs 3 and thereby the electrifying roller 2 is brought into contact with an image carrier 1. Further, a power source 4 impresses an electrifying bias on the core bar 2a and the image carrier 1 surface is uniformly charged via the elastic body 2B. An external force transmitted to the flexible foaming member 2b via the tube 2c is reduced by setting tensile stress of the tube 2c above 100kg/cm2 and consequently permanent set in fatigue (plastic deformation) of the elastic body 2B is reduced.
