Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an electro-viscous fluid capable of stably exhibiting Windzlow effect by dispersing particles in an electrically insulating fluid using a dispersing agent consisting of a nonionic surfactant.
CONSTITUTION: The objective electro-viscous fluid is produced by dispersing (A) particles of cellulose, sephadex, etc., surface-treated preferably with water, polyhydric alcohol. etc., in (B) an electrically insulating fluid selected from silicone oil, vegetable oil, mineral oil, fluorine-containing oil, etc., using (C) a nonionic surfactant consisting of preferably polyoxyethylene dodecylphenyl ether, etc., as a dispersing agent.
