PURPOSE: To provide an electrocardiograph which achieves higher reliability of inspection by enabling the extension of an inspection, term in substance and efficient detection of irregular abnormal electrocardiographic complex.

CONSTITUTION: At a recording time zone setting section 16, a record starting date and a record ending date are set separately beforehand prior to the start of inspection with an electrode section 2. At a record mode setting section 17, a record mode of an electrocardiographic complex is set beforehand in the recording time zone set with the recording time zone setting section 16. A CPU13 recognizes the electrocardiographic complex inputted in the time zone set with the recording time zone setting section 16 according to control programs stored in a ROM 14 and a RAM 15 and in a mode set with a recording mode setting section 17 and the results of the recognition are stored into the RAM 15.
