The electrocardiographic system 1 for a vehicle includes: a GND electrode 9 installed in a steering; a plurality of capacitance type sensors 11 and 13, a grip state detecting means 9 for detecting the grip state of the steering; a selecting means 25 for selecting some sensors from the plurality of the capacitance type sensors 11 and 13 based on the detection result of the grip state detecting means 9; and electrocardiographic means 9, 11, 13, and 31 for measuring the electrocardiographic potential of the occupant using the capacitance type sensors 11 and 13 selected by the GND electrode 9 and the selecting means 25.
