Abstract:
PURPOSE:To move a discoloring part smoothly in one display body and to simplify an electric control circuit by moving a reaction area by utilizing the voltage drop of one display body. CONSTITUTION:An electrochromic display is provided with two lead terminals for applying a voltage between a display-side electrode 2 and a counter-side electrode 6 and a terminal part 11 for feeding currents to the electrodes from the two lead terminals is arranged opposite between the display-side electrode and counter-side electrode and only at a part to be changed in color. When a constant voltage is applied between the display-side electrode 2 and counter- side electrode 6, a large current flows instantaneously in the vicinity of the terminal and a voltage drop is caused at other parts not to obtain an enough voltage for reaction, but when reaction is completed at the part where the reaction starts, no current flows there, so a more current flows at a distance from the terminal pert to start reaction, whose reaction area extends outward from the starting reaction area. Consequently, a display is moved smoothly in one display body and a control circuit can be made extremely simple.
