Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate replenish work of an electrode by positioning a new electrode with respect to an existing electrode by making fine adjustment of the position in a horizontal plane of an electrode connector according to a detecting result of an electrode detector.
SOLUTION: A new electrode 1 is taken in an electrode connector 5, and when it is gripped, the electrode connector 5 is raised by a winch device 12 to move a traveling carriage 11 up to directly above the part of an existing electrode 4 to be replenished. Next, the electrode connector 5 is lowered so that an electrode detector 7 stops the winch device 12 by detecting time, when the height becomes a prescribed height from a holder 2a. A position finely adjusting device 8 moves an installing stand 16 and a movable carriage by a movable carriage device in this state to have the electrode connector 5 moved microscopically. In this case, longitudinally and laterally oppositely facing four sensors of the electrode detector 7 detect the existing electrode 4, and the electrode connector 5 is made to move laterally and longitudinally microscopically to guide the electrode connector 5 so as to enter an axial position.
