Abstract:

To solve a problem wherein, although increasing of density of needle electrodes is known as a method of generating stable streamer corona discharge for a long time, when needle electrodes of frog shape is used, discharge is generated only at the needle electrodes in the outer peripheral part, and it is not suitable for a discharge reactor of large area for the usage of decomposing chemical substance.

Two sheets of plate-shaped electrodes 101 are arranged nearly in parallel, and needle or thin bar-like electrodes 102 are arranged in a row at spacings of 1/2 or less of their length on the surface of one of the electrodes 101 opposed to the other electrode, and a cluster is formed by arranging the row of electrodes for several columns at spacings of about 1/4-1/2 of the length of the electrodes 102. Furthermore, the clusters are arranged at spacings of 1.5-5 times of the length of the electrodes 102 in the longitudinal direction of the plate-shaped electrode 101 so that the row of electrodes 102 may cross at nearly right angles.
