Abstract:

To provide an electroluminescence device including a patterned layer on a solvent-susceptible layer and a method of making and using such a device.

The method comprises the steps of: forming a patterned emitter layer including a first emitter 130 that is disposed on a receptor 120 by selectively thermally transferring, onto the receptor 120, a portion of a transfer layer including the first emitter 130 that is optionally solvent-susceptible; and forming a non-patterned emitter layer including a second emitter 150 by disposing a layer including the second emitter 150 on the patterned emitter layer and the receptor 120.
