Title:
ELECTROLYZER AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING CORROSION OF ELECTROLYTIC CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3614622
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyzer by which the waste of a raw material and the corrosion in the structural material of an electrolytic cell are eliminated and electrolysis is stably continued over a long period and to provide a method for preventing the corrosion of the electrolytic cell.
SOLUTION: After an electrolyzing voltage is impressed between an anode 12 and a cathode 13 to electrolyze an electrolyte 11a in an electrolytic cell 10, when the electrolysis of the electrolyte 11a is stopped, a corrosion-inhibiting voltage is impressed between the anode 12 and cathode 13. Thus, the generation of impurities in the electrolyte 11a is prevented and consequently, the corrosion in the cell 10 is prevented. As a result, the waste of a raw material and the corrosion in the structural material of the cell 10 are eliminated and electrolysis is stably continued over a long period. While the electrolysis of the electrolyte 11a is stopped, a corrosion-inhibiting voltage is impressed between the anode 12 and cathode 13 from an auxiliary power source 31 provided separately from a main power source 21 and consequently, the corrosion preventing function in the cell 10 is demonstrated.
