PURPOSE: To manufacture the title electromagnet which can easily be assembled by a method wherein a pair of holding pieces for fitting an armature to a yoke are arranged on one end both sides of a hinge spring fitted to the armature.

CONSTITUTION: A hinge spring 5 is composed of a thin metallic plate which is bent at a mid point in a nearly L shape and has a high elasticity, and whose one end 5a is fixed to one side of an armature 4. On the other hand, holding pieces 5c, 5c extending in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the hinge spring 5 from both sides of the other end 5b are formed into one body. Through these procedures, the hinge supporting work of the armature 4 to a yoke can be simplified thereby enabling the assembling step to be facilitated.
