Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for releasing an electromagnetic brake wherein a driven object is prevented from dropping, by consuming and absorbing at least part of kinetic energy through the retentiveness of the electromagnetic brake.
CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic brake is released by applying to the rotor of a stepping motor electromagnetic braking force TB that is gradually reduced with a lapse of time without rapidly increasing/decreasing the electromagnetic braking force TB. when switching the rotor from retained state to released state. When switching the rotor from retained state to released state, the electromagnetic brake device is repeatedly switched between active state and non-active state in a short time. It is thereby switched between electromagnetic brake- retained state and electromagnetic brake-released state in a short cycle, and the rotor is stepwise rotated and shifted from the initial position to equilibrium point according thereto.
