To provide an electromagnetic relief valve in a delivery pipe capable of securely preventing the internal pressure of the delivery pipe from rising while an engine is stopped while suppressing an increase in power consumption.
This relief valve 28 is so formed that a valve element 44 is open according to the energization of a valve opening electromagnetic solenoid 54 to relieve a fuel from the delivery pipe 14. The valve element 44 is energized to a valve closing side by the internal pressure (delivery fuel pressure) of the delivery pipe 14. The relief valve also comprises a spring 58 always energizing the valve element 44 to the valve opening side. The energizing force of the spring 58 is set smaller than an energizing force by the delivery fuel pressure raised during engine operation on the valve element to the valve closing side. When the valve element 44 is opened and a difference between the delivery fuel pressure and a pressure in a relief passage 40 becomes approximately zero, even if the energization of the valve opening electromagnetic solenoid 54 is stopped, the valve element 44 is opened and held by the energization force of the spring 58.
