Abstract:

To provide an electromagnetic spot welding method for a metallic thin sheet or foil with which the problem that, in the conventional electromagnetic spot welding method, when the area to be spot-welded is reduced, there has been a limitation on a coil for magnetic flux generation from the viewpoint of mechanical strength is improved.

The conventional planar one turn coil 3 is used as it is. A nonmetallic thin sheet 8 is held between aluminum thin sheets 5A, 5B as the materials to be welded, and welding is performed. Pores 9 are made in the nonmetallic thin sheet 8, and spot welding is performed only to the parts of the holes 9. When the diameter and number of the pores are changed, various spot welding can be performed without changing the coil.
