To reduce the whole length of an electromagnetic switch device 1 in which a first solenoid SL1 and a second solenoid SL2 are axially disposed and stored in one cylindrical frame 8.
The electromagnetic switch device 1 is configured so that a magnetic plate 27 forming a part of a magnetic circuit is integrally insert-molded with a bobbin 23 of a second coil 12, and the outer peripheral surface of the magnetic plate 27 is adhered to the inner peripheral surface of the frame 8. By this, the largest amount of heat generated in the second coil 12 is conducted to the magnetic plate 27, thereby allowing the heat to efficiently escape to the metallic frame 8 through the magnetic plate 27. The frame 8 is configured so that a mounting surface 8a formed at axial one end is fixed to the end surface of a starter housing 7, thereby allowing the heat to easily escape from the frame 8 to the starter housing 7. As a result, a temperature rise of the second coil 12 is suppressed, and the size reduction (reduction in axial length) of the second coil 12 is achieved.
