To change the frequency of an electromagnetic wave and adjust the output intensity while maintaining a vacuum in a waveguide.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave generation device includes a cathode, an anode through which electrons can pass, and a hollow waveguide that guides electromagnetic waves connected to the opposite side of the cathode of this anode, electrons are extracted from the cathode by applying a high voltage pulse between the cathode and the anode, the electrons are transported in the direction of the anode, and the electrons passing through the anode form a virtual cathode inside the waveguide and generate electromagnetic waves, and the waveguide has a variable inner diameter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
