To obtain an electromagnetic wave generation device with high availability and easily adjustable frequency.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave generation device includes an electron-permeable anode 131, a cathode 140 that is arranged opposite to the anode 131 with an interval d and that emits electrons toward the anode 131, a vacuum vessel 160 that has an annular shape, supports the anode 131 at an intermediate portion in the axial direction with an electrode surface perpendicular to the axial direction, and is provided with a transmission window 111 that transmits electromagnetic waves at one end on the opposite side of the cathode 140 when viewed from the anode 131, and a gap adjusting mechanism 150 that moves the cathode 140 in the axial direction to adjust the gap d while maintaining the degree of vacuum inside the vacuum vessel 160.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
