PURPOSE: To secure the rotation of a plastic tube in the peripheral direction and to alleaviate unevenness in electron beam irradiation, by irradiating the plastic tube containing a core wire inserted thereinto with electron beams while rotating the tube in the peripheral direction between a pair of capstans.
CONSTITUTION: A flame-resistant PE tube 4 is fed from the feed side by a guide roller 5 and crossed between capstans 1 and 2 and is led to the take-up side. Over the capstans 1 and 2, an electron irradiation apparatus 6 is placed so that the surface of the tube 4 is irradiated with electron beams 8 emitted from an accelerating tube 7 through a scanner 9. Into the tube 4 is inserted a core wire having a proper rigidity. The tube 4 gains a reaction force against the torsion of the core wire 10 in the course from the feeding of said tube from the feed side to the take-up of the tube on the take-up side and rotates in the peripheral direction in moving between the capstans 1 and 2 in the axial direction and accordingly the surface of the tube 4 can be uniformly irradiated with the electron beams 8 emitted from the irradiation apparatus 6.
