Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute an electron gun of higher luminance than before.SOLUTION: Luminance of electron gun is increased by using a high melting point metal (701) of 1900K or more, starting with rhenium, as the base of electron gun, storing boron (802) in a groove (801) or a hole dug in the base, or a boron accumulation area using a fine wire of high melting point, diffusing boron at a temperature lower than the melting points of high melting point metal and boron, and constituting an electric double layer consisting of a boron layer having positive charges on the vacuum side, and a metal layer having negative charges on the base side, thereby reducing the work function.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
