PURPOSE: To drive a cooling fan at low cost and calmly, by using a carriage- driving motor also as a motor fo the cooling fan, in an electronic apparatus with printer such as an electronic typewriter.

CONSTITUTION: The cooling fan 8 is fixed to a shaft 9 which is coaxial with a rotary shaft for a gear 5 rotated by the motor 7. Each time the carriage 3 is moved in the direction of an arrow A or an arrow B by the gear 5, the fan 8 is operated to blow cool air to a power source part 2 or blow out warm air to the exterior of a casing. When the carriage is not operated, the fan 8 also is not operated, so that calmness is maintained.
