To provide an electronic apparatus that is improved in merchantability (appeal as an article) by working out "welcome representation" and enabling a user to customize various settings of "welcome representation".
The electronic apparatus which gives visual representation when it is started temporarily increases luminance of lighting or display up to a maximum value and then gradually decreases it down to a user set value when it is started. In addition, the user is enabled to set the length of a time for which the luminance temporarily increased up to the maximum value when the electronic apparatus is started is held at the maximum luminance before being decreased down to the user set value. When a user operation is detected after the start-up, it is decided that the user prefers an immediate operation to the welcome representation and the luminance is immediately adjusted to the user set value.
