To greatly reduce storage capacity of a memory for storing electronic book data, and to also improve user friendliness.
A cellular phone automatically performs a download request by closing the cellular phone, for example, after establishing connection with a server including a database storing electronic book data via a network and then selecting an electronic book to be reproduced and a reproducing method for the server (steps S1-S3). Thus, the first page portion of the electronic book data is transmitted from the server and downloaded into a RAM inside the cellular phone (steps S4, S5). Successively, when it is detected that the cellular phone is opened, shaken or inclined, the downloaded electronic book data are reproduced and displayed (step S6). Each time the cellular phone is opened/closed, shaken or inclined thereafter, the electronic book data are distributed from the server page by page, downloaded in the RAM and then displayed.
