To provide an electronic camera system which can reduce in cost a camera body with a simple cradle structure and which can reduce in size and cost the cradle.

The electronic camera system comprises an external device connecting connector 28 provided on a side face of the camera (digital camera) 10 and used as a cradle connecting connector. When the cradle is connected, the camera 10 is rotated at 90° as seen from a front surface side, and is inserted into the camera mounting unit 62 of the cradle 60 in the state that the connector 28 is directed down. The connector 28 is coupled to a cradle connector 64 by this inserting operation, and both are electrically connected. When imaged by the camera 10 set to the cradle 60, an image turned upside down is obtained, and hence its rotation information is output together with the image at the image output time.
