PURPOSE: To prevent wastefull consumption of a power source, when the measured value of a bodily temperature is not within a specified preset range, by operating a timer part, and turning OFF the power source after the predetermined time.
CONSTITUTION: A power source 1 can be turned OFF by a signal from a timer part 5, even though a manual switch is ON. The power source 1 is turned ON, and a sensor 4 is contacted with a part of a human body for a specified time. The peak value of the data is detected by a measuring circuit 3 and displayed on a display part 2. Meanwhile the measured data is always compared with the temperature in the preset range. After the measurement of the bodily temperature is finished and the thermometer is separated from the body, the sensor 4 is operated and continues to send the data to the measuring circuit 3 unless the power source is turned OFF. When the temperature measured by the sensor 4 becomes gradually small and becomes lower than the preset value, a signal is sent to a timer part 5 from a comparator 6, and the timer part is operated. After the specified time, a signal is sent from the timer 5 so as to turn OFF the power source 1. As a result, wastefull consumption of the power source can be prevented.
