PURPOSE: To enable a peak holding indication even if a preheating means is provided, by indicating a detecting temperature of a temperature sensor with a real value at the initial stage of measurement and after detection of a rise of the detecting temperature by indicating the maximum peak holding value of the detecting values.
CONSTITUTION: An electronic clinical thermometer 11 is composed of a probe 12 and a main body 13. The prove 12 accommodates at its extreme end a temperature sensor 1 which is put into an armpit, etc. for detection of temperature. The probe 12 is connected detachably with the main body through a cord 14. Further, the thermometer 11 is provided with a preheating mens (not shown) to heat up the probe 12 prior to measurement and maintain the sensor at the specified temperature. On the main body 13, an indicating unit 5 is installed together with an electric switch 15 and CPU16 and memory 3 are contained inside. After the switch 15 is thrown in, detecting temperature is indicated on the indicating unit 5 with a real value and stored in a momory 3. When detecting temperature rises, the maximum peak holding value stored in the memory 3 is indicated. Thus, the peak holding indication becomes available.
