Abstract:
To provide an electronic dictionary for retrieving idiomatic phrases which a user cannot read by using a Chinese character dictionary and Japanese dictionary.
Chinese character dictionary data 7 are searched for Chinese characters in an idiomatic phrase, the Chinese characters are retrieved, and the retrieved Chinese characters are temporarily stored in a character data temporary storage means 12. Japanese dictionary data 8 are searched by using the Chinese characters as the retrieval result and the position of the Chinese characters in the desired idiom to discover the idiomatic phrase, and its reading and meaning are displayed to a display means 3.
