Abstract:
To provide an electronic endoscope allowing the operator of the endoscope to easily recognize the reference direction of the endoscope, such as upward direction, and easily discern the relationship between the direction of an endoscopic image displayed on a monitor screen and the direction of a patient's body.
A reference-direction flexible part 8a which has greater flexibility when bent in the reference direction of an endoscopic image 12 than if it is bent in other directions around the reference direction is formed in the vicinity of the proximal end of an inserting flexible tube 1.
