The electronic equipment with radio function is composed of an infrared communication module 1 for transmitting/receiving infrared rays, an additional function module 2 for transmitting/receiving radio waves and a main body 3 of the electronic equipment having a connector 31 to freely attachably and detachably connect the infrared communication module 1 or additional function module 2. The main body 3 of the electronic equipment is provided with a transmitting/receiving circuit 34 having a received signal analytic part 34a and a transmitting signal generation part 34b. In the transmitting/receiving circuit 34, the transmitting signal preparation part 34b generates a transmitting signal (TXD2) to be outputted to the additional function module 2 and the received signal analytic part 34a analyzes a received signal (RXD) from the additional function module 2. When the received signal (RXD) matches the transmitting signal (TXD2), it is judged that the infrared communication module 1 is mounted and when the received signal (RXD) is a confirmation response signal, it is judged that the additional function module 2 is mounted.
