PURPOSE: To emit light securely as many times as expected even when a light emission-ready signal is ceased owing to a drop in the charging voltage of a main capacity resulting from light emission by holding the light emission ready signal while a light emission start signal is inputted up to as many times as specified, and performing flash emission.
CONSTITUTION: The high-voltage terminal at the secondary winding side of a boosting circuit DD is connected to the main capacitor C2 through a diode D1, and the main capacitor C2 is charged with the voltage from said terminal. The low voltage terminal of the secondary winding is connected to a capacitor C1 through a diode D2, and this capacitor C1 is charged with its low voltage. When a main switch SMF is closed, transistors BT2 and BT3 turn on to feed the boosted output of a voltage stabilizing circuit CV or the output of a power source battery BF passed through a diode D3 to a power source line VF through a TRBT3. When the potential at the connection point of resistances R1 and R2 rises above the potential of a constant voltage source VC, the output of a comparator AC1 goes up to H and the capacitor C2 is charged up to a minimum voltage with which a xenon tube XE1 emits light; when the light emission start signal is inputted, the light emission of a xenon tube XE2 is started.
