To provide an electronic imaging apparatus which executes an optimum processing in accordance with the existence of other host information processors connected to a universal serial bus.

A USB host detector circuit 51 detects whether or not other host computers are connected to the universal serial bus. If the other host computers are not connected, the apparatus is set to a host mode for operating a USB host computer 52 to take an electronic camera 1 for a host one. If the other host computer is detected, it is set to a mode for operations under the control of the other host computers. If it is set to the host mode and a printer is connected,it converts the image data to data suited to the printer and outputs the data.
