To provide an electronic instrument in which miniaturization is realized by reducing a size in the longitudinal direction of a battery to be housed in a battery chamber and battery power is stably taken out while attaching a high value to portability and achieving weight balance.
A camera 1 has a battery chamber 5 for housing the battery 13 such as a packet lithium battery and dry batteries, formed in a casing 2 according to the placement position of a release button 6. The battery chamber 5 is provided with a battery contact piece member 10 in contact with the electrodes of the housed battery 13. The battery contact piece member 10 is attached, slidably in the longitudinal direction of the battery 13, to a pair of battery contact piece guide shafts 11A and 11B juxtaposed in the battery chamber 5. The battery contact piece member 10 is constituted so as to energize coil springs 12A and 12B fitted to the guide shafts 11A and 11B toward the electrode side of the battery 13. The miniaturization of the camera can be realized because the battery contact piece member 10 can be made thin and the size in the height direction of the main body of the camera can be reduced. Moreover, stable battery power is obtained by making constant a quantity of force of the battery contact piece member 10 applied to the electrodes of the battery 13.
