To provide an electronic mail system capable of ensuring high degree of security while maintaining ease of simple operation being equal to transmission and reception of usual E-mail with accompanying file when sharing the file between users transmitting and receiving E-mail.
The electronic mail system includes: a mail server 20 for extracting an attached file from the E-mail, storing the attached file in a file server 30, and transmitting the E-mail with path information of the attached file in the file server 30 and without the attached file to a destination when receiving the E-mail with the attached file from a transmitter's terminal unit used by a transmitter of the E-mail; and the file server 30 for storing the attached file and transmitting the attached file to a receiver's terminal when receiving access to the attached file from the receiver's terminal used by a receiver of the E-mail.
