Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recording of an image to be always reproduced in a correct direction intended at a photographing time.
SOLUTION: An electronic still camera comprises horizontal frames 103a to 103c, 103e, 103g and 103i used when a camera body is directed horizontally for guiding framing to a photographer by displaying on a liquid crystal monitor at the photographing time to prepare vertical frames 103d, 103f, 103h ad 103j used when the body is directed horizontally. If photographing is conducted in a state in which the monitor displays the vertical direction frame, a treatment of rotating the photographed image vertically is executed and recorded. Or, in the case of recording the photographed image, information indicating that the direction of the image at the reproducing time is longitudinally at the time of reproducing is previously added.
