Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in image quality due to data compression, by controlling frequency characteristics and gradation characteristics as specified by a band correction part and a γ correction part respectively according to image data compression which is set before an image is picked up.
SOLUTION: The band correction part 14 adjusts the levels of respective signals of R, G, and B according to gains set in amplification parts for high- range correction and intermediate-range correction and the respective signal frequency characteristics are controlled. Therefore, when the gains are set large, the high and intermediate frequency components of the respective signals are emphasized. The γ correction part 16 converts the gradations of the respective signals of R, G, and B which are controlled and normalized by the band correction part 14 by using a 1024- and 256-gradation look-up table. Gradation characteristics based upon a γ curve are set in the γ correction part 16 and image data has some of gradation characteristics of the γ curve converted according to the state. Therefore, the γ correction part 16 selects a specific γcurve according to various conditions and converts the gradations of the image data with the gradation characteristics, thereby making the output image easier to see.
