PURPOSE: To obtain a time piece with two hands securing a long life of batteries with a simple construcion by starting a counter responsive to a quartz vibrator with the output of a first counter which is previously operated after the turning on of the power source by turning the stem.

CONSTITUTION: The power source turns on by turning the stem after adjustment of pointers. This is detected with a power source detector 10 which starts a high speed counter 11 to control a pointer driving step-motor 15. According to a specified counted number of a counter 11, AND gates 8 and 9 are separately closed or opened through FF13 and subsequently, a motor 15 is driven or controlled with a quartz vibrator 7 kept stable to perform a normal pointer operation. With such an arrangement, it is possible to cut the power source until the product is delivered to a user after the shipment thereby preventing the waste of power. Thus, the electronic time piece with two hands having a long life of batteries is obtained with a simple construction.
