Abstract:

To provide an electrophoretic display device that allows an image switching sequence to be made efficient and has reduced power consumption.

The electrophoretic display device includes a first control line, a second control line, a potential control portion, and a switch circuit. The potential control portion supplies a first potential and a second potential to the first control line, and the first potential and the second potential to the second control line. The switch circuit selects one of the first control line and the second control line based on data held in an image memory circuit, and connects a pixel electrode to the selected control line. When the entire display section is a first color or a second color, without rewriting the data held in the memory circuit, the potential control portion supplies the first potential or the second potential to both of the first control line and the second control line.
