To provide an electrophoretic display device capable of improving the contrast of an image.
A first electrode 11 on a first substrate 10 is separated from a second substrate 13 by a prescribed distance, there is no barrier wall between respective pixels and barrier walls 19 are disposed on the outer periphery. Accordingly, a display part 15 as a closed space is formed among the first electrode 11, an insulating film 12 and the barrier wall 19. A dispersion medium and white color charged particles 22 are filled in the display part 15. A driving voltage of a prescribed waveform which is stored on a driving waveform memory is applied between the first electrode 11 and a second electrode 14 by a display control part and, thereby, the white color charged particles 22 are moved between the respective pixels.
